Happy Imbolg!
Today our Protogrove celebrated Imbolg. We honored Brigid, goddess of the hearth, poetry, warriors, initiation, the forge, and many more.
Many gathered early to make Brigid's Crosses. I know I say this a lot, but I love our community. Just the help during crafting was awesome! It freed me up to do some last minute ritual prep.
I had the luxury of not having a main part in the ritual. While I love leading ritual, it was nice to take a break and get to watch too. To see how we've progressed, to watch the congregation and their reactions to things. I don't get to do it as often when I'm constantly worrying about what part I'm speaking next. This is something I will have to work on.
I wanted to take a moment and thank those that came tonight. We had a great turnout again, 27 give or take and I love the feel of the energy. It may not always be super strong, smack you in your face...but it's always warm and sincere, like "Hey, we're family and you're always welcome." I'd love to take credit, but really all Dubhlainn and I did was give an opportunity, a place. You all did the rest.
This wasn't supposed to turn into a "We love you all so much!" post, again...but it did. I guess I just can't help myself! Thank you all! I hope you get as much out of the rituals as Dubhlainn and I get out of you being there and sharing yourselves with us! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Happy Imbolg! Happy Half-way to Spring!

Thoughts On The New Year
We at Silver Falls Protogrove, ADF are proud to say that we managed to roll through the winter holidays and into 2009 without any significant losses and, in fact, find ourselves excited for the future.
What happened in 2008?
Study Group began meeting in late 2007
Began "official" road trip visits to other ADF Groves
Our Protogrove status was approved in April of 2008
Spent Lughnassadh as a group with Stone Creed Grove in August
Had a booth at the Akron Area Pagan Festival
Offered our first public rite at Harvest Home
Presented a workshop at the Witch's Ball '08
Offered Samhain in November
And our largest rite to date, Yule in December
Throughout the year we have completed 3 community service events. Held a very consistent schedule for our monthly study groups/social time, managed to grow in size very quickly, and have been honored to bring a unique form of public pagan religion to the Akron community.
Most importantly, we have strengthened our connections through offering to the Kindreds; our Ancestors, the Spirits of Nature, and the Gods and Goddesses of the folk, and received their blessings in return.
What can we expect out of 2009?
Rituals at each of the High Days; Imbolg, Rites of Spring, Beltaine, Harvest Home, Samhain, and Yule.
Once again we will spend the weekend of Lughnassadh with Stone Creed Grove, ADF competing in the games and strengthening the bonds of the folk.
In April we will offer our very first Fools Day Rite, the theme this year is "Going Commando" this should be interesting!
Our Study group will continue until September when we shift to a "Business Meeting" format, don't worry there will still be plenty of laughter and good coffee from Hattie's.
Friends, new members, lots o' laughter, some hard work, bringing change to our community one day at a time, meaningful ritual, learning, meeting new people, and, most of all, continuing to strengthening the bond between the folk, the Kindred, and our world.
I hope your celebration of the New Year was safe and happy, and that the winter holidays brought you warmth and hope for the Turning of Wheel.
Until Then, and Always
Blessed Be

Truly Blessed
With the Yule season here, I can't help but stop to think about this past year and how amazing it has truly been.
Dubhlainn and I met up, and a great friendship formed out of that. However, something more important happened. In April, we officially became a Protogrove. A congregation of Ár nDraíocht Féin, if you will.
Our first meeting had four people. Our first rite had fourteen people. Our Yule rite had 36 people! In four months, our ritual grew from fourteen people to 36! And as people poured into the room we had reserved at the Akron Unitarian Universalist Church I was in awe! We had created a family. People greeted each other, even new comers. No one was left out.
All Dubhlainn and I did was stand up and say "Hey, look at us. Let's gather here." It was everyone else who showed up after that, that has made Silver Falls Protogrove what it is today.
We are one of the newest ADF Protogroves, and we have one of the larger memberships of the newer protogroves.
I'm so proud of what we've become.
So to this, I say thank you! We are truly blessed.
May your Yule be joyus and your New Year bring happiness and luck to you!
On a personal note, I would like to say thank you to all that shared in my oath. I was doing it for myself going into it, but as soon as the words left my lips I knew I was doing it for you as well. So it is with great joy that I say...

Joyous Samhain
This evening was our 2008 Samhain rite. We are so lucky to live in this amazing community. Tonight was our 2nd rite, ever, and we had 24 people attend. All of them had unique and interesting stories about how they made their way to us. The rite was good, I feel, at least I was able to feel the power of it. I am hoping to send a survey out to some select people over the next couple days, so if you attended don't be shocked to see my email. Don't worry it will only be something like 4 or 5 questions and will really help us make our rites better.
There truly is something magical about the Neopagan community in the Akron area. I am not sure if I can put into words. There just seems to be a strong current of pagan thought, and I feel ADF's approach is one that can be meaningful to our community.
Thank you Anthony Thompson for sharing your ritual online which our own rite was based on
Thank you to all the celebrants of today's rite.
Thank you to everyone who attended
Thank you to everyone who has shown us so much support and care.
and Thank You to the Kindred for accepting our offerings and sharing their blessings in turn.
